The Approach

This project integrates research from education, psychology, and design studies to explore how visual communication can strengthen student belonging and voice. A qualitative, mixed-methods approach combined literature review, case study analysis, and design exploration to connect theory with practice.

Case Study Insights

Student Wellbeing in Vertical Schools

Highlighted the importance of environment in shaping student wellbeing. The participatory mapping inspired how spatial elements in the installation encourage interaction and reflection.

Demonstrated how technology and storytelling can make emotional experiences more relatable. This influenced the narrative-based structure of prompts in the installation.

The Politics of Belonging

Revealed the power of student-led visuals to express inclusion and exclusion. This study inspired the open-ended, student-driven responses that shape the installation’s content.
